The George and Helen Spelvin Folk Art Collection, curated by Beauvais Lyons

January 18–March 2, 2001

The George and Helen Spelvin Folk Art Collection is one of the most insightful private collections of contemporary “outsider” art. Curated by Beauvais Lyons, this exhibition included, among others: Lucas Farley’s enamel painted records, Arthur Middelton’s painted portraits of American presidents, and numerous “limberjack” puppets by Lester Dowdey.

Exhibitions at the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery are supported in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; individual sponsors; the School of Art; and the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University.
