Past ExhibitionsJun Nguyen-Hatsushiba/Matrix 203: Memorial Project VietnamSeptember 5–October 12, 2003 Memorial Project Vietnam featured two recent films by Nguyen-Hatsushiba: Towards the Complex – "For the Courageous, the Curious and the Cowards"(2001) and Happy New Year – Memorial Project Vietnam II (2003). The poetic works explored Vietnamese identity, political memory and cultural polarities. Both works featured underwater settings, vivid imagery, saturated color, choreographed movement and hypnotic soundtracks. The exhibition was curated by Heidi Zuckerman Jacobson, Phyllis Wattis MATRIX Curator at the University of California’s Berkeley Art Museum. Exhibitions at the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery are supported in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; individual sponsors; the School of Art; and the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University. |
