New (re)Presentation of Latin America on Video

Curated by Carolina Loyola Garcia
October 10–29, 2000

New (re)Presentation of Latin America on Video was a two hour screening of cutting edge video work by young Latin American artists. The media program was curated by Carolina Loyola Garcia, who punctuated the content as follows: “This is not ‘exotic.’ This is not ‘magical.’ This is not ‘surreal.’ This is not ‘primitive.’ These are the margins where imagination is a weapon. By the cultural periphery, about the social periphery, to demolish your stereotypes!”

Exhibitions at the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery are supported in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; individual sponsors; the School of Art; and the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University.
