AUTO/VISUAL/INDI/VISIBLE

April 28–June 23, 2000

The first School of Art Faculty exhibition, AUTO/VISUAL/INDI/VISIBLE, included the work of nineteen distinguished full-time faculty who maintain active professional practices with national and international reputations. Many hold prestigious awards and their exhibition circuit circles the globe. The faculty work shown ranged from digital video and animation, sculpture and installations, environmental poetics and public gestures, to drawing, printing, and painting.

The faculty exhibition, began to reveal the multiple layers and rich backgrounds of the full-time faculty’s work. Exhibiting artists were Jon Beckley, Partricia Bellan-Gillen, Ron Bennett, Bob Bingham, Lowry Burgess, James Duesing, Carol Kumata, Joann Maier, Joseph Mannino, Clayton Merrell, Ayanah Moor, Herbert T. Olds, Keith Piper, Martin Prekop, Suzie Silver, Susanne Slavick, John Sturgeon, Satoru Takahashi, and Mary Weidner.

Exhibitions at the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery are supported in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; individual sponsors; the School of Art; and the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University.
