Past ExhibitionsPassage: Shirin NeshatAugust 27–October 11, 2002
Death, mourning and ritual are at the heart of Passage (2001), a recent single screen work by Iranian-born artist Shirin Neshat, with music by Philip Glass. Neshat developed Passage inspired by readings of apocalyptic texts and the brutality of Israeli-Palestinian television images. Shirin Neshats split-screen video installations, photographs, and films have received worldwide acclaim and were included in many prominent international exhibitions. Exhibitions at the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery are supported in part by a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; individual sponsors; the School of Art; and the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University. |
